My sisters-in-law found a little gem in Lenexa called Sincerely Susan where they give mother’s a dress-finding experience like that of bridal salons. They have all sizes, lengths, and colors – so much so that both my mother and mother-in-law found their mother-of-the-bride/groom dresses AND rehearsal dinner outfits at this shop!
We took both mothers (on separate occasions) to find their dresses. It made them feel special and loved, and they were very pleased with how they were going to look on the wedding day!
In addition, unlike Macy’s, Dillard’s, or Von Maur where the mother-of-the-bride/groom dresses can cost upwards of $500, we found that most of Sincerely Susan’s absolutely stunning dresses came in under $200.
Lastly, we asked our mothers to wear pink (our wedding accent color), which I think giving them parameters to work in was helpful. Also, having the bride there at the choosing of the dresses made them feel more confident in their choices. It was a really sweet moment on both occasions.
