Hair and Makeup

I had both my hair and makeup done on the day of, and had a trial 1 month in advance. We found Hello Lovely through the Knot, and after reading all of the wonderful reviews, we were happy to hire them.

The reason I chose to get my make-up and hair done instead of doing it myself or having a friend do it was a) I am a bit of a tomboy and rarely do it myself, so I needed some help. b) I wanted a professional who already has the good long-lasting make-up and who was going to be able to do my hair on a hot day (101 degrees) and make sure it stayed as long as possible.

Unsolicited advice: get the trial. I wanted some minor things changed, but could tell I liked the stylist overall and felt confident that I would be happy with how I looked on the day of. Her name is Natalie. I highly suggest her!

In addition to what I had done, my mother and mother-in-law had their hair and makeup done on the day of. My 7 bridesmaids had their hair done and a few of them opted to have their makeup done once they saw ours and liked it. Most ended up with false lashes as well which were available for purchase through Hello Lovely. All of these additional makeups were done and paid for on the day of by my bridesmaids, and they were only done with the additional time at the end of the morning. It was nice that Hello Lovely was able to accommodate for that right then and there.

We had to arrive and get started at 8am because there were so many of us. Hello Lovely brought in a 3 stylist team. IHCC took care of coffee and biscuits while we were getting our hair/make-up prepped, setting up centerpieces and displays, and steaming the dresses.

This was a big added cost to offer it for everyone, but if you decide it’s important and find a way to put it in your budget, I LOVED the morning watching my girls get hyped. It was a joy for me to see them glamming themselves up and feeling good about how they looked.
