Food and Booze

Indian Hills CC handled all of our food, alcohol, cake, and service in house. It was really impressive and removed a huge element of stress and coordination on the day of the wedding. Even when the main coordinator who we had been working with got sick and was not available for most of the day, IHCC still did a fantastic job.

Unsolicited advice: both John and I suggest for anyone getting married to try to find a venue that will handle a good chunk of the food, linens, table set up, etc. for you.

Additional FYI: if you have a wedding bigger than 50 people, this is easily the most expensive part of the wedding.

Food

We went with plated meals and table wine service. This takes much longer than a buffet-style, but that just meant that the bride and groom actually got to eat their food. Our guests remarked how they felt pampered and really enjoyed their meal time.

During cocktail hour:
1) Open bar
2) Hors d’oeuvres

During dinner – served:
1) Wine service, white and red
2) Salads
3) A choice between prime rib, chicken saltimbocca, or a kids meal (chosen ahead of time through RSVP) – vegetarian and dietary restriction options were available upon request
4) Cake – 4 tier. 2 layers were chocolate cake with chocolate mousse, 2 layers were vanilla cake with lemon curd and raspberry mousse. IHCC did our cake for us, and we were so glad we could have the 2 flavors since we have opposite tastes!

Gluten and dairy free cupcakes from local specialized bakery, Billie’s Grocery, were served for the guests with allergies. IHCC plated them up and served them with everyone else’s cakes.

Booze

We had an open consumption bar, which means we were charged based on the amount our guests actually drank rather than a per head rate. The bars closed during dinner and the bar tenders served the wine at the tables.

Signature Drinks
His – Blood Orange Spritz
Hers – Classic Margarita

One of the cutest things of the day was looking out from our sweetheart table and seeing a smattering of little orange and lime drinks across each of the tables. Guests were excited to taste what the bride and groom like.

One thing I didn’t expect, but really appreciated was that my classic margarita choice was a real margarita! They made it in a shaker right there in front of you. I had expected them to be pouring some 1800 and handing it out, but it was the good stuff. They did the same for the Blood Orange Spritzers. Praise God! We loved it!
